Taking a look inside one of the
many crystal pockets in the Elmwood Mine!
Huge golden Calcites line the cavity along side creamy Barite blooms, shiny
Sphalerite crystals, and lavander Fluorites. It's a virtual dream world of color.

Here you can see some of the
tools of removal. Styrofoam boards cushion the fall
of large crystals while rags further insulate the clusters and points from damage
during the haul to the surface. These pockets can get rather narrow and working
in such tight quarters can be claustrophobic but the gorgeous mix of minerals
makes the job well worth it. That's what makes Elmwood such a classic locality.

Gorgeous large cabinet plate of
raspberry-purple Fluorite cubes clustered atop Sphalerite with Barite!
A darker coloration accents the edges of each gemmy
cube and the surfaces are very lustrous. A very
slight drusy can be seen just to the right of the small Barite cluster and atop many of
the cubes near
the specimen center. This adds a really nice sparkle to an already very attractive
Fluorite plate.

Impressive specimen featuring lavender
cubes of Fluorite with Galena, Barite and Sphalerite!
This is a stunning Elmwood combo with cubes that are nearly completely colorless but for a
very
slight lavender coloration. The Fluorites are in excellent condition and featuring
numerous, although
tiny inclusions of Bitumen which forms some really neat patterns beneath the surfaces.
Some of
these Bitumen inclusions actually form "drips" that extend downward into the
Fluorites. Small
crystals of Galena, Fluorite, and Barite cover the large Galena located at the top center.

Beautifully balanced specimen of
Fluorite cubes atop Sphalerite matrix!
This is easily the finest Elmwood plate I've seen in
a number of years. The cubes are nearly pristine and well
positioned atop the lustrous Sphalerite. There is good separation between the Fluorites
which is always a
plus and the color can best be described as a raspberryish-purple. The largest
measures over 3 cm in size!

Exceptional, museum quality large cabinet
plate of lustrous Sphalerite clusters with Barite on Dolostone!
No doubt about it! This is easily the finest Elmwood Sphalerite plate I have ever seen or
offered on the website.
Usually large plates of Sphalerite are either dull or damaged but this specimen is
completely pristine! The crystal
clusters are super reflective and lustrous and the specimen is as close to perfect as you
can find. The plate is
very well proportioned and balanced with one side being more Sphalerite and the other more
Barite clusters.
I could see this plate standing alone or being the centerpiece of a fine Elmwood
collection.

LARGE CABINET! Huge plate of slightly
reddish-purple Fluorite cubes with Calcite on Dolostone!
This is the largest Elmwood Fluorite plate that I've
ever offered and it nearly fills a deep flat by itself!
It's a stunning sight to see with Fluorite cubes in all sizes mixed in with Calcites,
Sphalerite, and a
matrix which is a sparkling drusy covered stunner! Even the bottom side sparkles with
drusy and
pizzazz!! This specimen could easily be the centerpiece of any Fluorite or Elmwood
collection and
actually sits upright by itself with the tallest measurement standing vertically. In
excellent condition.

Gorgeous and gemmy Calcite crystals on
Dolostone matrix!
This specimen originates from the 1982 find at the
Jewel Pocket, a pocket world reknown for its
incredibly gemmy, golden Calcite crystals! The tip of the largest Calcite on this plate is
completely
perfect but for a tiny natural chip on the backside of the top termination. A very minor
detail that
will not detract from the color and gemminess of this amazing crystal which measures 13.6
cm in
length! The crystal is actually doubly terminated with a bottom termination extending down
past the
right side of the matrix. I might note that there are several other smaller
Calcites accenting the
main crystal and all have tiny inclusions of bitumen which I find to be quite interesting
and aesthetic.

Large, fat, doubly terminated Golden
Calcite crystals on matrix!
This impressive crystal ranges from creamy-golden to
gemmy golden at the terminations.
The luster is glassy and wet in appearance! Both terminations are complete and undamaged.
The only cleave I detect is behind the bottom termination where a portion of the Calcite
was
removed from the matrix. It is literally invisible from the front and doesn't detract in
the least
from the overall aesthetics. The Calcite also sits up above the Dolostone matrix, giving
the
specimen a 3-dimensional feel. The Calcite crystal measures over 16 cm in length from tip
to tip!

Impressive large cabinet cluster of
purple Fluorite cubes on Dolostone matrix!
The cubes here are quite large, averaging 4 cm in
size! They are also quite transparent
with a slightly reddish-purple color that allows one to see through to the matrix beneath.
There is a slight phantoming near the outer edges and a shimmering luster atop each cube!

These Fluorite crystals light up when given a
direct light and glow with a vibrant purple
coloration. The corners are modified and complete. The largest Fluorite is framed by two

Large, impressive specimen of Golden
Calcite with numerous terminations!
This gemmy crystal ranges from golden to deep golden
brown near the top terminations.
The luster is INTENSE and wet looking! There's actually a termination at the bottom making
this
a doubly terminated crystal. The white material near the bottom is a small bit of Barite
which grew
against the Calcite tip. In excellent condition overall with one nearly
unnoticeable cleave at the top.

Gorgeous cabinet plate featuring large,
gemmy reddish-purple Fluorites with Sphalerite!
Both are sitting atop a Dolomite covered matrix. The specimen is in great condition
overall,
with very few contacts. The Fluorites are very transparent and exhibit just a touch of red
in their purple coloration which really makes the plate glow under all forms of lighting.
The backside of the plate is pure Dolomite on drusy and sparkles like crazy.

Glassy yellow crystals of Calcite with

Several of the Calcites are doubly terminated while
all are very gemmy with lustrous faces.

Wow!! Large golden Calcite crystal,
doubly terminated, with yellow Calcites on Dolostone!
The main draw is the deeply golden Calcite on the
left of the plate and it measures 14 cm from tip to tip!
It is incredibly lustrous and glassy with lots of gem and multiple terminations on
both sides. It's balanced
on the right side by smaller yellow Calcites which are also terminated with glassy faces.
Really, the only
incompleteness is along the bottom edge where the plate was separated from it's host
matrix. There's also a
tiny bit of Barite attachment at that point. A well balanced plate that can be
presented vertically or as shown.

Super gemmy crystals of golden Calcite
on sparkling Dolostone matrix!
Several "jewels" are present here
with a couple on the backside of the plate. The main crystal is
vertical and measures 5 cm in size. The horizontal crystal to the lower right measures 6.7
cm and is
doubly terminated. The top crystal has a tiny cleave on the backside of the tip but it
doesn't detract and
isn't visible from the front. All the Calcites are super glassy and clear with a wonderful
internal glow!

Large Golden Calcite crystal with
Barite near the base!
This crystal is actually doubly terminated with the
bottom termination being irregular
in form because it completed its growth against a Barite ball. There are minor attachments
of Barite along the surface of the bottom termination. The top portion of the
Calcite is a
gemmy golden and gradually changes over to a more opaque cream color near the center.
The top termination is complete save for a small cleave along the upper right side.

LARGE CABINET and exceptional crystal
of golden Calcite atop a Barite cluster!
A very impressive Calcite which is golden, glassy,
and perfectly doubly terminated! There are
no contacts or cleaves at the tips of this 22 cm Calcite crystal! Beneath the surface is a
faint phantom
consisting of tiny specks of Bitumen which has since been overgrown. The Bitumen also
accents the
Barite cluster and the bottom side of the attached smaller Calcite. A spectacular Calcite
