Stunning specimen of crystalline Native Gold sitting high atop Quartz matrix!
This piece reminds me of the famous bonsai tree on mountain top pictures. It is completely
crystalline and the close up photo displays the sharpness of the structure. It is essentially
dendritic in nature with individual crystals at the periphery and some of the dendrites appear
to be spinel-twins! The surfaces are bright and incredibly lustrous, with the entire crystalline
structure measuring over 3 cm in height. Below that, the Gold can be seen traveling its way
through the white Quartz matrix so there's much more Gold in this piece that what is shown.
From the Eagle's Nest Mine, Placer County, California.
Measures 6.1 cm by 3 cm by 3.3 cm in total size.

Attractive display of semi-crystalline Native Gold on white Quartz matrix!
This specimen is from the famous 16 to 1 Mine and the rich yellow Gold on bright white Quartz matrix
is what made this locality famous. Gold can be seen scattered about atop the white surfaces but is most
concentrated near the top edge where it becomes very dense. There's also additional Gold which has not
yet been exposed from the white Quartz matrix. This specimen is very lustrous and displays beautifully.
From the 16 to 1 Mine, Alleghany, Forest District, Sierra County, California.

MIN#Gold-3 NEW!

Exquisite specimen featuring fine crystalline clusters of Native Gold with Quartz and Epidote!
This is easily one of the finest Olinghouse Gold specimens I've seen in recent years and they
aren't very common in the marketplace anymore. This specimen was pictured in a
Rocks and
Minerals, Vol. 79 - Issue #1, Jan/Feb 2004
article about the Olinghouse Mine and has resided
in a private collection ever since. There are at least three crystalline "nests" atop the matrix,
with the largest measuring just shy of 4 cm in size. The luster of these Gold wires is intense and
the brilliance is dazzling. One might be tempted to call this a specimen of Electrum due to the high
content of Silver in the mix and the color is a lighter shade of yellow. I should also point out that the
bottom side of the specimen is covered by a large amount of Gold wires still encased in white Calcite.
This is a wonderful specimen of Olinghouse Gold and the aesthetics and 3-dimensionality are superb.
From the 813 pit, Olinghouse District, Washoe County, Nevada.
Measures 5.8 cm by 8.4 cm by 5.4 cm in total size.

MIN#Gold-4 NEW!

Rare specimen of Native Gold with Pyrite crystals on Quartz from the Mother Lode!
Old time specimen featuring lustrous leaf Gold nestled between white crystal points! There
are Pyrite crystals scattered about and the leaf surfaces range from mirror-smooth to matted
in texture. I would date this specimen to the mid 1850's to as possibly as late as 1890. The old
label is brittle and in two pieces with the middle portion missing but the words Oro, quarzo, and
California are visible. Numerous Quartz crystals form the host matrix and some are terminated!
From the Mother Lode Region of California.

MIN#Gold-5 NEW!

Rare specimen featuring crystalline Native Gold in host rock matrix!
This is somewhat of a rarity and an oddity in that the Native Gold crystals have left the Quartz
seam and embedded themselves in the host matrix. They are quite brilliant and lustrous and the
color is a bright yellow so the difference in matrix has not impacted the quality of the Gold itself.
The dendritic structures to the right lift ever so slightly above the surface, giving the specimen
the appearance of a sculptural relief or 3-dimensionality. A large and very unique display piece.
From the Eagle's Nest Mine, Placer County, California.

MIN#Gold-6 NEW!

BRILLIANT specimen of Native Gold perched atop Hematite colored Quartz matrix!
This is one luscious specimen of Australian Native Gold! The surfaces are gleeming with luster
and the color of the Gold indicates a very high purity. The specimen itself is a Gold epimorph in that
it displays the shape and angles of its former matrix in a way that makes it appear crystalline. The
matrix was probably a mix of iron mineral and Quartz and the remaining Quartz matrix below the
Gold has preserved the original color of the Hematite. You could probably turn the Quartz white
by cleaning it but that would take away from the specimen's characture and it definately has a lot
of character. I've been told that there are over 5 ounces of yellow metal in this specimen. This is
a rare piece and the Gold weight is just an added bonus. Most of these do not appear on matrix.
From the Idaho Pit, Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Western Australia, Australia.

MIN#Gold-7 NEW!

Exceptional and rare specimen of Native Leaf Gold in white Quartz matrix!
This is a MAJOR Gold specimen and of a quality seldom seen from the Oriental Mine in
California. The Gold appears as brilliant layers of leaf Gold with crystals present along
the edges of each seam. There are also flattened trigons apparent atop the surfaces of
the leaf Gold so you could actually say that the entire specimen is crystalline! The color
of the Gold is a super lustrous butter-yellow indicating a small Silver presence in the mix.
(Orange would indicate Copper). Specimens of Gold from the Oriental in this size range
are quite rare and specimens with this much Gold coverage are incredibly rare! This fine
specimen represents a unique opportunity for Gold collectors and mineral collectors alike!

Extraordinarily rich and quite rare specimen of Native Gold on Quartz from the Vulture Mine!
This specimen is from the Vulture Mine which is located in the ghost town of Vulture City, just outside
the town of Wickenburg, Arizona. I've seen a handful of Native Golds from this old locality over the past
decade but I would have to say this is by far the richest. It's covered with seams of brilliant Gold on both
the front and back and even has a crudely crystalline structure in some areas atop the Quartz matrix.

MIN#Gold-12 NEW!

Classic and quite rare specimen of Native Gold on matrix from Goldfield, Nevada!
This is a historical specimen from a major early mining period of Nevada's history. Goldfield
was mostly known for its Gold mines while Tonopah to the north was famous for its Silver deposits.
The two towns had their heyday around the same time period (1900-1920's) and are today still holding
on although Tonopah has done somewhat better thanks to a nearby military base. The district is very
historical and full of old mines. It's also one of my favorite areas to visit when I'm in the area. This
specimen features a rich scattering of Native Gold atop the front and back of the stained Quartz matrix.

Historical and very rare specimen of Native Gold with Silver Sulfides on matrix from Nevada!
This cabinet sized plate is an amazing example of American and Nevada mining history. It's from
the old mining district of Tonopah, Nevada which was the home to a huge Silver mining boom in the
early 1900's. While Silver was the main ore discovered in Tonopah, there were also gold deposits
although most were a bit further south in Goldfield. This specimen displays a large Rhyolitic volcanic
plate, naturally seamed, into which flowed Native Gold. The Gold cooled to form micro-crystalline
clusters. The close up photos display the front and right edge of the specimen which is covered with
the brilliant precious metal. The Gold is mostly crystalline dendritic with some small trigons, leaves,
and mesh also present. Gray Silver Sulfide is also present in the matrix but the Gold is the main draw.
Specimens of this size with this much Gold coverage from Tonopah, Nevada are incredibly rare today.

Exceptional and quite rare old classic featuring Native Gold on Quartz crystals from Tonopah, Nevada!
This specimen dates to the 1910's - 1920's which was the heyday of Gold Mining in the Tonopah Mining
District. It is from the Siebert Shaft which was just to the north of Tonopah, a town which was primarily
known for its deposits of Silver. The matrix is composed of Quartz crystals and massive Quartz. It's full
of small pockets and openings which allowed for the formation of small crystals of Native Gold, most of
which are in grape-like clusters. I've had a great time inspecting every small opening with my loupe and
almost all are lined with bright, lustrous crystals of Native Gold. This is a very rich specimen and one of the
finest I've seen from the Tonopah District. It comes with an original handwritten label, misspellings and all.

Exceptional specimen of elongated Native Gold wires on Quartz crystal covered matrix!
This rare specimen is extraordinary due to the length of the main wire which measures 4 cm in length!

were ever found and even fewer were set on Quartz. Most were found in the early mining days of the
Olinghouse District. I would consider this specimen to be among the top two or three that I have seen
