MIN#SILVER-51 NEW!

EXCEPTIONAL specimen of lustrous gray Acanthite crystals with Chalcopyrite on matrix!
The largest crystal in the middle measures 1.8 cm in length! The remainder of this very rich
Silver Sulfide is covered with smaller Acanthites and patches of iridescent Chalcopyrite.
From the Eldorado Mine, Port Radium, Mackenzie District, Northwest Territories, Canada.
(This locality was discovered in 1900 and mined as a source of Silver and Radium in the 1930's.
It was dewatered in 1976 and mined again for its Silver and Copper reserves before closing for
good in 1982. The mine and its settlement were destroyed by fire and no longer exist today.)
Circa 1930's - Measures 4.7 cm by 5.2 cm in size.

MIN#SILVER-52 NEW!

Unbelievable Native Silver featuring a thick upright wire on dark matrix!
This wire is incredible! It measures 4 cm in size and 1.4 cm in width and is actually a huge spinel
twin crystal in the guise of a wire. It is surrounded by other, more typical Native Silver wires and
all are well striated and covered with a lovely golden-brown antiquish patina. This is one of the most
unique Peruvian Silver specimens I've seen in years and there was nothing else like it at the show.
From the Uchucchacua Mine, Oyon Province, Lima Department, Peru.
Measures 7 cm by 6.8 cm by 6.5 cm in total size.

MIN#SILVER-53 NEW!

Fine specimen featuring Silver ps after Dycrasite!
This specimen caught my eye at the show because it looked so much like a Chlorargyrite
in form, texture, and color. It's actually Silver pseudomorphing Dycrasite crystals and one
of the most unique specimens of this material that I've seen. The display side crystals are
short and flat-topped with a slight texture. These rise upwards from a matrix consisting of
dendritic Silver crystals, imparting the specimen with a two sided personality. There's a really
neat vug near the right side which is completely lined with crystals. This is one of my favorites.
From PrÝbram, Central Bohemia Region, Bohemia, Czech Republic.
Measures 6.2 cm by 8 cm by 3.3 cm in total size.

MIN#SILVER-54 NEW!

Sharp crystals of Acanthite and curling Native Silver wires!
Both Silver minerals sit atop a matrix of Quartz with Quartz crystal sprays.
The Acanthite crystals are so incredibly sharp and lustrous that at first glance, one
might not even notice the small "ram's horn" Silver located on the far right side of
the specimen! Acanthite and Silver combos from Mexico are rarely seen at the shows.
From the Reyes Mine in Guanajuato, Mexico.

Rare and classic specimen of Native Silver dendrites on Native Arsenic with micro-Proustite!
A seldom seem locality for Native Silver, this specimen displays some of the most intricate
Silver dendrites you'll ever seen. The close-up photo shows the woven-like growth of the
crystals atop the Native Arsenic covered matrix. Very lustrous with an antiquish patina.

The host matrix below is a pinkish color rock which is not something I see often.

MIN#SILVER-57 NEW!

EXCEPTIONAL!! Amazing specimen featuring lustrous Acanthite crystals sitting atop Polybasite!
Admittedly, I'm a Silver specimen fanatic and I go crazy when I see incredible combination pieces
like this one, but even non-Silver collectors can appreciate a specimen of this calibre!
The pristine
Acanthites xls (largest measures 1.4 cm in size) sit perfectly atop very sharp blades of Polybasite
which are in turn, accented by a peppering of golden-iridescent Pyrite crystals. The Polybasite also
appears to be slightly coated by additional micro-Acanthites. I've never seen a specimen quite like
this one and the contrasting habits of both Silver Sulfides is what caught my attention. The largest
Polybasite is nearly 2 cm in width so it pretty hard not to notice! All crystals are sharp and distinct.
From the Reyes Mine, Guanajuato, Mun. de Guanajuato, Guanajuato, Mexico.
Measures 4.9 cm by 3.9 in size.

MIN#SILVER-58 NEW!

Very aesthetic "tree" of Native Wire Silver!
To me, this specimen looks like a tree. Others may say it looks like a hand or bird foot. I cherry picked this one
from a collection of several dozen and loved not only its form, but also the deep striations along all the wires.
This fine specimen begins with a .35 cm thick wire at the base which grows upwards some 8.2 cm in length.
There is a slight accenting of Acanthite along the striated length of each of the wires.

Beautiful miniature of Native Silver on Calcite matrix!
This is one attractive Silver with a superb dendritic growth pattern rising upwards above

as it gets closer to the matrix beneath. This is one of the best Batopilas miniatures I've seen.

Cobalt Silver!! Fine dendritic growths of Native Silver with Safflorite accenting!
I actually visited Cobalt a few years back and did some exploring and photo taking
in this historic mining town. While most of the headframes appear to be intact, they aren't
being protected very well and with the constant exposure to the elements, who knows how
long they'll remain in place. Cobalt was once a major Silver mining district and specimens
like this one are highly prized by myself and other Silver collectors. Impressive and heavy!

MIN#SILVER-64 NEW!

EXCEPTIONAL CLASSIC!! Lustrous pyramidal crystal clusters of Acanthite with Native Silver wires!
An amazing combination featuring stacked Acanthite ps. after Argentite (Silver Sulfide) crystals with Native
Silver wires throughout! Obviously the Sulfur component was removed at some point during the development
of this specimen, allowing for the Native Silver growth. Specimens like this always amaze me. They are both
beautiful and extremely interesting in a geological as well as an historical sense. This specimen is a classic
rarity from a major Silver mining district which has faded into the past. Fortunately, great specimens survive
for all collectors to enjoy. I might point out that this specimen is very heavy and nearly solid Silver mineral!

Denver2011-75SilverErythriteOntarioCanada72mm.jpg (298732 bytes)

MIN#SILVER-68 NEW!

Rare specimen of Native Silver dendrites with reddish sprays of Erythrite!
The Cobalt mining area was famous for its mix of Silver and Erythrite (Cobalt bloom) in much the same
manner that Creede is famous for Silver and Amethyst. Unfortunately for collectors, most of the specimens
were not saved. Many miners would actually clean away the Erythrite to expose additional Silver, thus
destroying classic specimens. Today, specimens like the one offered here are extremely difficult to find.

Fine halfbreed featuring crystals of Native Silver perched atop crystals of Native Copper!
This is a really unique looking specimen. The small rounded Silver crystals look like drops
atop the elongated Copper crystals. They are scattered about the specimen but most are
located atop the left edge. Under magnification, I can see angular crystal faces and a vibrant
luster. The Copper crystals have a wonderful antiquish patina which contrasts very well.

EXCEPTIONAL! Very fine cabinet plate of Native Silver pseudomorphing after Dyscrazite!
The crystal form is well defined and sharp although completely replaced by Native Silver. This is one
of the most well balanced plates I've seen. It could actually be displayed from either side as there are
larger "fans" on the backside. I prefer the "jackstraw" crystal appearance on the front side though
and the patina is completely original and untampered with which is how fine Silvers should appear.

Unusual and quite flashy combo featuring Acanthite crystals on Chalcopyrite ps. after Polybasite!
The Acanthite crystals are very sharp and lustrous and show well against the Golden Chalcopyrite.

Interesting specimen featuring greenish-brown Embolite crystals with Goethite and Cerussite!
Chlorargyrite is the mineral known as "Horn Silver". It was once misunderstood by miners
until they had it assayed and discovered it was Silver Chloride and very rich
. Embolite is
a variety of Chlorargyrite which adds some Bromian into the molecular mix and is also
known as Bromian Chlorargyrite. This specimen is covered with the waxy-brown crystals
which are accented by iridescent (bluish-lavender) Goethite and tiny twinned Cerussites!
